A partner project update
Abbots Gate is one of our partner’s, Propiteer Capital’s, built-to-sell projects, located in the historic and picturesque town of Bury St Edmunds. Known as Suffolk’s foodie town, Bury is filled with many award-winning restaurants and local pubs, surrounded by over 1000 years of history.
The Abbots Gate location was chosen by their developing partner, Propiteer Limited, because of its ability to create a variety of different dwellings that cater to the affluent, older customer as well as professional families. The site allows them to create unique and well-designed homes in the centre of the town at high density, maximising the development resale value. When complete, the development will feature 66 units in total, with a mixture of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes, and 1 and 2-bedroom apartments on the edge of the town centre.
The site is perfectly located for those needing to commute or wanting to visit other neighbouring towns and cities by train, or travel conveniently by car with the A14 passing right through Bury.

Project update
The 6-acre Abbots Gate site is currently under construction, but has been making immense progress over the last several months. Completion of phase 1 and 2 is estimated at the end of 2023 and summer 2024.
Director of Propiteer Homes, Paul Warner, adds the following detail as to how the site is coming along:
“We’re pleased to say that the roof carcass is now complete on the first 8 houses in block A, and we have commenced the roof covering works. The apartments in blocks B and C have also now had the concrete 3rd floors installed. Blocks D to G are all up to oversite level, and we are excited to forecast phase one completion in November 2023, and phase 2 completion next summer.”
